OUR APPROACH

Our Guiding Principles and Core Values

WE BELIEVE THERE ARE different swings for different people, but the same fundamentals apply to efficient and consistent striking of the golf ball

  • We respect the student’s time availability, learning style, desires, physical and mental skills to develop a plan that best fits the student and their restrictions

  • We strive to provide a comfortable, fun and safe environment

  • We support and practice the First Tee Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment

  • For juniors we stress the absolute importance of academics

Training Approach

Based upon the analysis of the students swing, improvement opportunities identified, skill set and stated objectives, we develop a plan that fits those parameters and then take the student through the following training approach:

Development Mode

Phase 1: Development of drills and exercises design to reinforce fundamentals and fix the primary faults of the swing

  • Learning (mental and physical understanding of the technique being taught)

  • Training / Drilling (repetitive rehearsal of technique being taught with use of teaching aids if necessary)

  • Comfort attainment (with technique being taught)

  • Practice, Practice and Practice (at GolfSmart, the course practice range, the course)

Phase 2: Moving skills developed in phase 1 to the course in friendly competition

  • Reinforcement as needed to eradicate faults and establish new habits

 Play Mode

  • Moving developed skills to tournament competition (just play)

  • Reinforcement as needed to eradicate faults and establish new habits
